inexpensive to install.
Heatsavr is filter friendly, does not affect the chemical balance (pH, chlorine, alkalinity) of the water, will not damage vinyl liners or any other pool surfaces and is
absolutely harmless to skin contact.
An automatic dosing system ensures that the correct dose of liquid is added to the pool, at the same time each day.
Fully programmable to suit pool size and hours of operation, it only requires a periodic check - to top up or replace the 2 litre bottle.
Does it heat the pool?
Not exactly. A pool warms up in the Spring by storing heat energy. The water gets warmer because of the longer hours of sunshine and higher air temperatures. Meanwhile, it is losing heat through the sides and floor (10%) and from the surface (90%), so it does not heat up very quickly.
When heat-loss is reduced the pool warms faster. Heatsavr™ prevents about 75% of surface heat-loss - more than two-thirds of overall heat-loss.
How It Works
The very special, transparent and non-toxic liquid spreads, very thinly, right across the pool and stops water evaporating. It is the evaporating water that cools the pool - just like when you wear a wet tee-shirt.
Heatsavr is a bio-degradable liquid, which forms a transparent mono-molecular layer over the surface of a swimming pool whenever it is calm.
For decades, scientists have known that a monolayer (one molecule thick) spread across the surface of a liquid dramatically reduces evaporation and energy loss. Many companies attempted to develop a technology, but until Flexible Solutions developed their patented Heatsavr, which they first introduced to the North American market, no other company had been able to make a monolayer spread reliably and inexpensively or regroup effectively after the water had been disturbed.
Heatsavr is a mixture of carefully chosen ingredients which automatically float to the surface. The particles of the liquid are attracted to each other and they always try to form a perfect, very thin layer over the whole pool surface. They are individually microscopic - 500 times smaller than the spaces in a super-high-quality Diatomous Earth filter.
Unlike a conventional pool cover, which has to be removed from the pool for swimming, Heatsavr breaks apart when the water is sufficiently disturbed but the monolayer reforms when the water becomes calm again. Consequently Heatsavr adjusts perfectly to changing activity levels in the pool throughout the day. A variable and flexible cover that automatically works whenever and wherever the pool surface is calm.
For the more technically minded – the properties of Heatsavr include a unique spreading mechanism which forms a monomolecular layer by making use of the repulsive forces generated by dissociation of ionic compounds when dissolved in water. Negative ions repel each other, as do positive ions and quickly spread the film-forming agents.
Heatsavr's especially tailored molecules:
- prefer their feet in water
- prefer their heads in the air
- once they are spread out, resist climbing on top of each other
- have side chains (like arms) that interlock, like riot police, to keep the water molecules controlled.
- are short lived; biodegrading to air and water within days
